Taft Middle School is a roughly 165,000 SF renovation of and addition to the original 1930 Taft Junior High School structure designed by Layton, Hicks, & Forsyth - the premier architecture firm of early Oklahoma history. This Art-Deco structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007, and at the time of its construction was on the cutting edge of education technology for the period. The renovations will seek to keep the original core and shell, while the additions will replace and expand the demolished West and North wings.
